Busy is as busy does

2 Aug

Hey everyone!

So as you may have noticed I have been quite absent from the blogging world. There is a very good reason behind that… I have my very first art show coming up in less than three weeks! Can you believe that? Three weeks…

I have been working like a mad woman on journals. I’d like to have close to 100 journals for the show just in case things go well and so far I have around 60.

For those of you that know me have probably seen my large collection of bags filled with the paper scraps that are left over from when I hand tear the pages on my journals. You probably also know that I have been saying for quite some time that I plan on making my own paper from them… well I have finally committed to buying the supplies and two nights ago I made my first sheets of paper. Its safe to say that I am in love with this new art form and plan on using the paper to make everything from handmade bookmarks to pocket sized journals. I really enjoy the rustic look of them and hopefully you do as well.

My last but certainly not least update for the world of wayfaring art is that I am going to be concentrating on making jewelry for the next week rather than my journals (I love making them but man do I need a break from tearing paper). I started out today by making some sets of earrings using the ancient coins I’ve purchased over the past year or two. I am in love with how they are turning out and just may have to keep a pair or two for myself… I know, I know… I need them for my art show. But seriously, I love these things!

That’s it for now guys! Tomorrow I am heading up to Duluth and beyond to get some photos of the tall ships as they all leave port and then I hope to go on a few different photo excursions, maybe meet up with some friends and of course do some more blueberry picking at Palisade Head!
